There are a LOT of new make-up products out this spring, so how can you work out which ones are the must-buys? Editorial exec Grace has done the research for you, picking the best of the new collections and narrowing down the list to six top products.  Read on to get some shopping inspiration…

I spend a lot of time in beauty halls. This isn’t just time spent contributing to my impending beauty-induced debt, this is down to my obsessive studying and swatching of products. When a new collection comes out – I’m there. I’m a big believer in taking time before parting with your hard-earned cash, so here’s an edited list of the make-up to look out for from the new spring/summer ‘13 collections:

Clarins | Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact

The summer Splendours collection has Aztec design running through, both on the outer packaging and the pan – the result is just gorgeous. It’s made up of three shades that blend together to leave a flattering glow on the skin. You get a lot of product, there’s a compact mirror included and the highly pigmented formula goes a long way. I’m hooked.

Laura Mercier | Lip Crayon in Folklore

We’re crazy about this bright fuchsia lip crayon in Folklore from Laura Mercier – nothing says summer like a burst of colour. Also, we tend to opt for lighter coverage in the warmer weather and although Laura Mercier’s infamous Tinted Moisturizer is nothing new, we had to sneak it in somewhere. The oil-free formula has the standard SPF20 and is a great transitional product that will stick around even if your skin gets more oily in the warmer weather.

Bobbi Brown | Long-Wear Cream Shadow

Bobbi is a fan of revolutionising formulas (i.e. the legendary Foundation Stick) and these new long-wear cream shadow sticks are modern make-up at its best. It applies as a cream (which can be blended in using your finger) and sets to a matte stain that stays around for a whole day at work – yes, I’ve tried it. There are the usual flattering golds, champagnes and bronzes, but I’m a big fan of the more unusual colours like the vibrant green – Forest – and bluey-grey Shadow. A great evening look without seeming too try-hard.

Nars | Radiant Creamy Concealer

I’ve been searching for this type of product for a long, long time. It does the ultimate: Illuminate and conceal. The formula is opaque enough to cover up spots, while the lightweight, light-reflecting particles correct under-eye bags without gathering in fine lines.

Chanel | Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder

The revamped packaging of this long-awaited collection got beauty lovers everywhere excited. After a lightweight veil? Use this alone or with concealer. But if you prefer high coverage, it’s a fab finishing powder to pop on over your foundation or tinted moisturiser (it also contains an SPF15 for extra protection). Does what it says on the beautifully designed tin, creating skin that looks healthy and glows.

Guerlain | Cils D’enfer Maxi Lash

I don’t usually get that excited about mascaras, but wow! This luxe gold packaging is old school glamour personified. Luckily, it’s interior lives up to expectations. The impressive wand leaves behind a fluttery, false-lash effect that doesn’t budge or transfer. If you like a natural look, this isn’t for you. Big lash lovers – run and buy one now!
